Please make sure all forms that were emailed are printed and filled out on the day of the appointment. Make copies for your records. Keep in mind ChildTestingFL does not return any forms after they have been submitted.
All that is needed is a quiet space with a table and two chairs such as the dining room or kitchen table. Please remove all pets, turn off television and cell phone ringers to avoid distractions during the testing process. Parents may not help or offer prompts during testing as it may invalidate results.
Try to avoid doing schoolwork before the appointment or using the word "test" as it may produce unnecessary anxiety in some children. It's important that students are in a relaxed and positive frame of mind. Some recommended pre-testing activities can be: a table game, puzzles, coloring, drawing, Legos, leisure reading or listening to soft music. Reassure your child that it will be a fun experience.
Upon greeting and introduction, the psychologist will begin with some ice breakers to set a friendly rapport then promptly begin with the testing process. Students may take short stretch breaks as needed. Please make sure your child has a nutritious snack or meal BEFORE the assessment to help keep testing materials in good condition. In most cases, the entire process takes under 2 hours. After testing, parents will be given some feedback regarding potential diagnosis. Reports are emailed in PDF format about 2 business days after testing. Parents are asked to call in to discuss report.
Payment is due in full on the day of the appointment after testing. Unfortunately we don't make payment plans. Accepted methods of payment are: Cash, personal checks, money orders, Zelle ®, Venmo ® and PayPal ®.
